Record an advance or further disbursement
A disbursement records actual money paid to a borrower. It is distinct from agreeing a limit or generating a forecast. The initial loan wizard records its first advance; subsequent advances are entered from the loan.
Identify the agreement
In Loans, open the intended fictional agreement. Check borrower, lender entity and currency before changing its history.
Check the first advance
For a new agreement, enter the first amount and Date money is lent in New loan. Do not add the same initial movement again as a further advance.
Enter a further advance
For an existing loan, open its Events tab and use the further-advance action. Enter the effective date, amount, applicable rate and reason. Further advances retain separate rate and anniversary anchors.
Identify the cash movement
Choose a bank or cash account owned by the agreement's lender entity with the same currency. Add payment method and the external reference when available. Cash movements use cash accounts; non-cash movements use bank accounts.
Inspect the result
Review the event in the loan history and the money-out entry in Ledger. Check the dated statement. A backdated entry is replayed against later history and can be rejected if it makes a later allocation invalid.
Check your result
- The money-out amount equals the actual example disbursement.
- The date, source account and currency are correct.
- The initial advance has not been entered twice.
