Record a repayment and allocate the money
Recording cash received and deciding how it is used are separate steps. A receipt can pay interest, cash principal, capitalised interest or charges. Money left unallocated becomes borrower credit.

Start the payment
Open Payments received, then Record payment. Select the borrower, currency and actual payment date. Enter the full amount received.
Identify where the money arrived
Select the receiving bank or cash account and payment method. Add the external UTR, UPI reference, cheque number or international bank reference if available. The external reference is optional and separate from the internal FolioPact voucher.
Split the payment explicitly
Add the relevant same-currency loan allocations. Enter the amounts for interest, cash principal, capitalised interest and charges, using 0 for a component you are not paying. The allocation total must not exceed the receipt or the applicable loan balances.
Check borrower credit
If INR 10,000 is received and INR 8,000 is allocated, INR 2,000 remains borrower credit. That remainder does not automatically reduce principal or become interest income. Applying it later is not a second cash receipt.
Review before confirming
Choose Review payment. Check the borrower, account, method, date, voucher, allocations and balances before and after payment. Investigate any suspected-duplicate warning before acknowledging a separate cash movement.
Confirm and inspect
Choose Confirm payment. Check Payments received, the loan statement and Ledger. Keep evidence of the actual bank receipt in your existing secure records while live attachments are unavailable.
Check your result
- Receipt amount equals allocated amounts plus borrower credit.
- All allocations belong to the correct borrower, lender entity and currency.
- A matching bank reference has not caused the same payment to be counted twice.
